- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup diced apples (peeled and cored)
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
- 1/4 cup caramel sauce (for drizzling)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, then add the vanilla extract and cream cheese, mixing until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, stirring until just combined.
- Fold in the diced apples and nuts (if using).
- Drop tablespoon-sized portions of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow the cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier flavor, add 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger to the dry ingredients.
- Substitute the diced apples with other fruits like pears or peaches for a different twist.
