Description
A comforting and cheesy casserole made with ground beef, hash browns, and two types of cheese.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 medium onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 cups frozen hash brown potatoes
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 can (10.5 ounces) cream of mushroom soup
- 1 cup milk
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme
- 1 cup sour cream
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, chopped onion, and minced garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is translucent. Drain excess fat.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef mixture, frozen hash browns, cheddar cheese, cream of mushroom soup, milk, salt, black pepper, paprika, thyme, and sour cream. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.
- Transfer the mixture into a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spreading it out evenly.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella cheese on top.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes.
- Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Let it cool for 5-10 minutes before serving.
Notes
- For a spicier version, add diced jalapeños or a teaspoon of cayenne pepper to the beef mixture.
- You can substitute the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter option.
