Description

A delicious and savory dish featuring Korean ground beef served over wilted Napa slaw, perfect for a satisfying dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 head Napa cabbage, thinly sliced
  • 1 carrot, julienned
  • 2 green onions, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Stir in the minced garlic and ginger, cooking for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  3. Add the soy sauce, brown sugar, sesame oil, red pepper flakes, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine and simmer for about 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  4. In a separate large pan, add the sliced Napa cabbage and julienned carrot. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is wilted but still slightly crunchy, about 3-4 minutes.
  5. To serve, place a generous portion of the wilted Napa slaw on a plate and top with the Korean ground beef mixture. Garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.

Notes

  • For a lighter version, substitute ground turkey or chicken for the beef.
  • Add sliced bell peppers or snap peas to the Napa slaw for extra crunch and color.
