Description
Mediterranean Chicken Meatballs are a flavorful and healthy dish made with ground chicken and a blend of Mediterranean spices and herbs.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground chicken
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 1/4 cup chopped red onion
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil (for cooking)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, red onion, garlic, egg, oregano, salt, black pepper, and crushed red pepper flakes (if using).
- Mix the ingredients together until well combined, but do not overmix.
- Using your hands, form the mixture into meatballs, about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter.
- Heat the olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium heat. Add the meatballs in batches, cooking until browned on all sides, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once browned, transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the meatballs are cooked through (internal temperature should reach 165°F).
- Remove from the oven and let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
- For added flavor, serve the meatballs with a side of tzatziki sauce or a fresh Greek salad.
- You can substitute ground turkey for the chicken for a leaner option.
- For a vegetarian version, try using chickpeas or lentils as the base.
