- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 1 cup cooked sausage, crumbled
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
- Cooking spray or muffin liners
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F. Grease a muffin tin with cooking spray or line with muffin liners.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
- In another bowl, combine the milk, eggs, and vegetable oil. Mix well.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
- Fold in the crumbled sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, black pepper, and garlic powder if using.
- Spoon the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the muffins to cool in the pan for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- For a sweeter variation, add 1/2 cup of blueberries or chocolate chips to the batter.
- To make these muffins ahead of time, bake them, then cool completely and store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the microwave before serving.
