Description

A delicious recipe for savory Italian meatballs that are perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley (or 2 tablespoons dried parsley)
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 1 jar (24 ounces) marinara sauce

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, parsley, onion, garlic, egg, salt, black pepper, oregano, and red pepper flakes. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
  3. Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs about 1 to 1.5 inches in diameter and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  4. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until cooked through and browned.
  5. While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a large skillet over medium heat.
  6. Once the meatballs are done, transfer them to the skillet and simmer in the sauce for an additional 5-10 minutes.
  7. Serve the meatballs with pasta, on a sub roll, or on their own with extra sauce.

Notes

  • For added flavor, try mixing in some chopped bell peppers or mushrooms into the meatball mixture.
  • If you prefer a lighter version, substitute ground turkey for the beef.
