Description

A rich and creamy sauce made with fresh morel mushrooms and bourbon, perfect for elevating your dishes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 ounces fresh morel mushrooms, cleaned and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 cup bourbon
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Melt the butter and olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  2. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  4. Add the sliced morel mushrooms to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are tender and browned.
  5. Pour in the bourbon and let it simmer for 2-3 minutes, allowing the alcohol to cook off slightly.
  6. Reduce the heat to low and stir in the heavy cream, Dijon mustard, salt, and black pepper.
  7. Simmer for another 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens to your desired consistency.
  8. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, try adding a splash of Worcestershire sauce or a pinch of smoked paprika.
  • If you want a lighter version, substitute half of the heavy cream with low-fat milk or a plant-based cream alternative.
