Description

Smothered Turkey Wings with Gravy is a flavorful dish that combines tender turkey wings with a rich and creamy gravy, perfect for a comforting meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large turkey wings (about 34 pounds)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional)
  • 1 medium onion, sliced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a large bowl, combine garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, thyme, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Rub this spice mixture all over the turkey wings.
  3. In a large oven-safe skillet or Dutch oven, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the turkey wings and sear them for about 5-7 minutes on each side until browned. Remove the wings and set aside.
  4. In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and minced garlic. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.
  5. Sprinkle the flour over the onions and garlic, stirring constantly for about 1 minute to cook the flour.
  6. Gradually whisk in the chicken broth and heavy cream, ensuring there are no lumps. Add Worcestershire sauce and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer.
  7. Return the turkey wings to the skillet, spooning some of the gravy over them. Cover the skillet with a lid or aluminum foil.
  8. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the turkey wings are tender and cooked through.
  9. Once done, remove from the oven and let rest for 10 minutes. Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add chopped jalapeños or a dash of hot sauce to the gravy.
  • Substitute turkey wings with chicken thighs or drumsticks for a different flavor and texture.
