Description

Steak Pinwheels with Spinach and Cheese are a delicious and savory dish that combines tender flank steak with a creamy spinach and cheese filling.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound flank steak, thinly sliced
  • 1 cup fresh spinach, chopped
  • 1 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Toothpicks or kitchen twine for securing

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the cream cheese, mozzarella cheese, chopped spinach, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix until well combined.
  3. Lay the flank steak slices flat on a clean surface. If the slices are too thick, gently pound them with a meat mallet to about 1/4 inch thickness.
  4. Spread a generous layer of the cheese and spinach mixture over each slice of steak.
  5. Starting from one end, carefully roll each steak slice tightly into a pinwheel shape. Secure the ends with toothpicks or tie with kitchen twine.
  6. Heat olive oil in a large oven-safe skillet over medium-high heat. Sear the pinwheels for about 2-3 minutes on each side until browned.
  7. Transfer the skillet to the preheated oven and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until the steak is cooked to your desired doneness.
  8. Remove from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing into pinwheels. Serve warm.

Notes

  • For a spicy kick, add red pepper flakes to the cheese mixture.
  • Substitute the spinach with other greens like kale or arugula for a different flavor profile.
