Ingredients

  • 2 pounds chicken wings
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon hot sauce optional
  • Chopped green onions for garnish

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet for better air circulation.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and cayenne pepper. Add the chicken wings and toss to coat them evenly with the spice mixture.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the brown sugar, soy sauce, vegetable oil, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and hot sauce (if using) until smooth.
  4. Pour the sauce over the seasoned wings and toss until they are well coated.
  5. Arrange the wings in a single layer on the wire rack. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes, turning halfway through, until the wings are crispy and caramelized.
  6. Remove the wings from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, broil the wings for an additional 2-3 minutes after baking.
  • Try adding a tablespoon of honey to the sauce for a sweeter glaze or substitute the soy sauce with coconut aminos for a gluten-free option.
