- Begin by washing fresh broccoli thoroughly to remove any dirt. Chop the broccoli into small florets. Optional: blanch the florets in boiling water for 2-3 minutes then place them in ice water.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the blanched broccoli with shredded cheddar cheese, panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, and your chosen egg or flax egg. Mix thoroughly.
- Shape the mixture into bite-sized balls or patties, roughly the size of golf balls. Place them on a plate or tray.
- Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes. Lightly grease the basket with cooking spray.
- Arrange the shaped poppers in a single layer in the air fryer basket and cook for 10-12 minutes, turning halfway through.
- Once cooked, let the poppers cool slightly before serving warm with your favorite dipping sauces.
