Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a rolling boil over high heat. Add your choice of dried pasta noodles and cook according to the package instructions, usually around 8–10 minutes, until al dente. Reserve ¾ cup of pasta water, then drain the noodles.
  2. In a large skillet, melt 3 tablespoons of unsalted butter over low heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes, stirring frequently until fragrant.
  3. Add the drained pasta noodles directly into the skillet with the sautéed garlic and butter. Toss to combine, then stir in freshly grated Parmesan cheese until melted and evenly coated.
  4. Gradually add the reserved pasta water a few tablespoons at a time, mixing until you achieve a glossy, well-coated pasta.
  5. Season with salt and ground black pepper, toss to combine, and serve immediately in warm bowls, garnished with additional Parmesan and chopped parsley if desired.
