  • 8 tostada shells
  • 1 cup refried beans
  • 1 cup shredded lettuce
  • 1 cup diced tomatoes
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup sliced jalapeños optional
  • Fresh cilantro for garnish optional

Method
 

  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  2. Stir in chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the spices are fragrant.
  3. While the beef is cooking, prepare the tostada shells according to package instructions, usually by baking or frying until crispy.
  4. Spread a layer of refried beans on each tostada shell.
  5. Top each tostada with a generous portion of the seasoned ground beef.
  6. Add shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheddar cheese on top of the beef.
  7. Finish with a dollop of sour cream and jalapeño slices if desired.
  8. Garnish with fresh cilantro before serving.
