  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease four 8-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a bowl, mix all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and ground spices.
  3. Cream softened butter, vegetable oil, applesauce, and granulated sugar until smooth and fluffy.
  4. Incorporate eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add dry mixture into wet, alternating with milk.
  6. Fold in chopped apples with a spatula carefully.
  7. Divide batter among the prepared pans and smooth the tops.
