  • 4 oz Melted Chocolate Dark or semi-sweet preferred.
  • 1 cup Pureed Strawberries Raspberries or blueberries are alternatives.
Frosting
  • 8 oz Cream Cheese Regular cream can be used for buttercream.
  • 4 cups Confectioners' Sugar Adjust to taste.
  • 1/2 cup Butter Use unsalted for better salt control.

Equipment

  • Oven
  • Mixing bowls
  • whisk
  • Cake pans
  • spatula

Method

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease three round cake pans or line them with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract. Gradually combine this wet mixture into the dry ingredients.
  4. Divide the batter into three bowls. Mix melted chocolate into one for chocolate, pureed strawberries in another for fruity, and leave the third plain for vanilla.
  5. Pour each flavored batter into the prepared cake pans and bake for 25-30 minutes. Cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring to wire racks.
  6. Once cooled, start assembling by placing the chocolate layer on a plate, spreading frosting, then stacking the vanilla and strawberry layers, frosting them in between.
  7. Cover the entire cake with the remaining frosting and smooth it out.
