For the Sandwiches
  • 4 rolls Italian sub rolls hoagie rolls or ciabatta can work as substitutes
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter or salted butter
  • 1 tbsp garlic powder
  • 1 tbsp onion powder
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp dried basil
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes adjust based on your spice preference
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
For the Meats
  • 1/2 lb deli-sliced salami or turkey/roast beef
  • 1/2 lb deli-sliced ham or turkey
  • 1/2 lb deli-sliced pepperoni omit if desired
For the Cheeses
  • 1/2 lb deli-sliced mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 lb deli-sliced provolone cheese try smoked or mild
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese omit fresh Parmesan for convenience
For the Veggies
  • 1/4 cup roasted red peppers
  • 1/4 cup sliced black olives omit if desired
  • 1/4 cup banana peppers, sliced substitute with jalapeños for more heat
  • 1/4 cup fresh basil leaves spinach can be a substitute

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Gather your ingredients.
  2. Slice the Italian sub rolls lengthwise, keeping them hinged at the back.
  3. Melt the unsalted butter in a microwave-safe bowl and mix with seasonings.
  4. Spread the butter mixture onto the cut sides of the rolls.
  5. Layer the meats onto the bottom halves of the rolls.
  6. Distribute the mozzarella and provolone cheese over the meats.
  7. Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the layered ingredients.
  8. Add roasted red peppers, sliced olives, and banana peppers on top of the cheese.
  9. Top with fresh basil leaves.
  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes until cheese is melted and edges are golden brown.
  11. Allow to cool slightly, then slice and serve warm.
