Step-by-Step Instructions for Hearty Breakfast Pizza
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Roll out the pizza dough to a 14" circle or a 12" x 16" rectangle on a floured surface and transfer to a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Melt 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and peppers, sauté for 5–7 minutes until tender.
- Add the breakfast sausage to the skillet, breaking it up and cooking for 6–8 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat.
- In the same skillet, reduce heat to low and melt 2 tablespoons of butter. Stir in 2 tablespoons of flour and cook for 4 minutes. Gradually whisk in milk until thickened, then stir in the eggs and cook gently until set.
- Spread the creamy egg mixture over the pizza dough, then top with the sausage and vegetable mixture.
- Sprinkle shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15–18 minutes until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing into wedges.
