Ingredients
  

For the Pasta
  • 16 oz Ziti Pasta or penne/rigatoni
For the Meat
  • 1 lb Ground Beef or Italian Sausage use lean for less grease or turkey for lighter dish
For the Sauce
  • 24 oz Marinara Sauce homemade or store-bought
For the Cheese Mixture
  • 15 oz Ricotta Cheese whole milk preferred
  • 2 cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese whole milk preferred
  • 1/2 cup Parmesan Cheese freshly grated
For the Flavor
  • 1 tbsp Italian Seasoning or fresh herbs
  • 3 cloves Garlic Cloves minced
  • 1 tsp Salt to taste
  • 1 tsp Pepper to taste

Method
 

Cooking Instructions
  1. Cook the ziti pasta in salted boiling water until al dente, about 8–10 minutes. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground meat and cook until browned, about 5–7 minutes. Drain excess fat, add garlic, and cook for an additional minute.
  3. Stir in marinara sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Let simmer for 5 minutes.
  4. In a bowl, combine ricotta with half of the mozzarella and Parmesan until smooth.
  5. Preheat oven to 375°F. In a greased 9x13 dish, layer half of the ziti, half of meat sauce, and dollop cheese mixture. Repeat layers.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove foil, add remaining mozzarella, and bake uncovered for another 15–20 minutes.
