Step‑by‑Step Instructions for Taco Rice Bowl
  1. Rinse the white rice under cold water until it runs clear. Combine in a pot with water or chicken broth and a pinch of salt. Bring to a boil, reduce to low, cover and cook for 15-20 minutes until fluffy.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add ground beef or turkey, breaking it up while cooking. Season with taco seasoning, cooking for 6-8 minutes until browned. Remove from heat.
  3. In the same skillet, add the rinsed black beans. Season with cumin and garlic. Simmer for 5-7 minutes until warmed.
  4. Fluff the rice and build your bowl with rice as the base, followed by ground meat and black beans.
  5. Top with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and cheddar cheese. Add more toppings as desired.
  6. Finish by adding salsa and garnishing with cilantro and lime juice.
